SGRFC: Ospreys V Australia Trip

South Gower RFC is planning a trip to attend the Ospreys V Australia clash at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday 1st November.

All our players and parents are welcome, in fact the more the merrier.

Junior tickets are priced £3 and adults £15. (Match ticket only).

If interested please let your respective coach know by close of the week, as tickets are selling fast and ideally we would like to determine numbers by close of the week (29.9.06).

If we get a good response eg. 40 plus people - we will qualify for a free bus. (Alternatively we will review the transport arrangements / costs closer to the date).

Players / parents who have already purchased their tickets are still welcome to join us, but a small fee will be required. (Price TBC).

Come and join us on what should be a memorable occasion.

2. Watch out for the email
You'll get an email from the site called 'Blogger Invites: Blogger blog invitation from MrFlag'. If you don't receive it, check that it didn't disappear into your spam filter.

3. Read the email
It will look like this. Click on the link shown in blue, or copy it into the address bar of your web browser.

4. Follow the instructions
You will see a screen which looks like this. Note that the blog you have been invited to join is shown: in this case South Gower RFC.

5. Already a member?
If you've used Blogger.com before you can log in using your existing account information. On the other hand if you've used it before you're unlikely to be reading this.

The next screen looks like this

10. Be smug
Kick back and enjoy the satisfied, smug feeling of being superior to everyone who hasn't got this far yet.

Look back at: 2002/03 Season

At the start of the 2006/07 Season SGRFC U13 and U14 squads now have more than 40 players between them. Just four years ago (2002/03 Season) those same squads could get less than a dozen players together for the team photo.

Welcome to the new-look SGRFC site

Grrrr!
Welcome to the new improved, healthier, SGRFC website. We listened to what you would have told us if you'd been able to find the time, and this is what we came up with...

...a THUMPING GREAT BLOG (courtesy of Mrs Flag) with links to some of the most important pages from the last site (so that MrFlag doesn't feel that last year's efforts were futile and worthless).

The most important thing about the new site is that contributing to it has been made easier. All active coaches and team-managers have access to the site and are free to post their own announcements, match reports, and bank account information as they see fit. Anyone else who'd like to post on a regular basis should email MrFlag (Monday-Friday) or MrsFlag (Saturday and Sunday) for access. Photographs are welcome and are the responsibility of the poster.

Anyone can comment on anything posted here by clicking on the little comments link at the foot of each article. See it? ¬

U11's: Vardre Away 17.09.06

Date: 17th September 2006
Score: South Gower 31, Vardre 7
Conversions: Chay Smith, Sam Jones, Jamie Thomas

Tries (Scored By): Chay Smith[3], Sam Pritchard, Jamie Thomas

SGRFC Man of the Match (And Why):
Max Adams who demonstrated commitment and aggression with ball in hand supported by consistent, accurate line out throwing and hooking in the scrum.

Game Analysis:
South Gower 11’s came out blazing in their first match of the season, good shape and controlled aggression up front which rattled the opposition. South Gower forwards secured plenty of ball with some hard tackles from Sam Jones, which allowed the backs to spread the ball into space for two first half tries by Chay Smith. The second half saw much of the same, with Gower forwards Alex Ashburner and Daniel Barker driving the mauls on where the pressure soon delivered a third try from Chay Smith. Vardre kept the fight on and did manage a well earned try, but the Gower pressure was too much for them as scrum half Jamie Thomas and centre Sam Pritchard both crossed the line consecutively for a well earned result.
